Nintendo has announced that more than 26.35 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have now been sold worldwide.

That tally is as of 30 September 2026, which Nintendo acknowledged represents a 37.4% decrease in sales year-on-year. The company will be hoping that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will help return this to growth as we now lead into the holiday season.

The company also confirmed that it has sold more than 73.21 million Nintendo Switch 2 games. Mario Kart World continues to be the most popular, with 16.48 million copies sold, with Donkey Kong Bananza selling more than 5.05 million copies, Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition selling 4.04 million copies, Pokémon Pokopia selling 4.04 million copies, Splatoon Raiders selling 2.42 million copies, Kirby Air Riders selling 1.94 million copies, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave selling 1.34 million copies, Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition selling 1.28 million copies, and Star Fox selling 1.17 million copies.

“Looking at hardware sales, Nintendo Switch 2 sales decreased by 37.4% year-on-year to 6.49 million units, and Nintendo Switch sales decreased by 32.7% year-on-year to 1.27 million units. Although unit sales of Nintendo Switch 2 hardware declined compared to the same period of last fiscal year, many consumers continued to adopt the system, spurred on by factors like the release of new titles,” the company wrote in its explanation.

It continued: “Looking at software sales, Nintendo Switch 2 software sales increased by 18.8% year-on-year to 24.49 million units, and Nintendo Switch software sales increased by 6.8% year-on-year to 65.73 million units. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream sold 8.81 million units, Rhythm Heaven Groove sold 2.89 million units, and Splatoon Raiders sold 2.42 million units. In addition to these strong showings, Mario Kart World, which was released last fiscal year, continued to sell steadily and posted sales of 1.78 million units. The wide variety of titles released by software publishers enhanced the lineup and bolstered the solid performance for software sales.”
