It’s been a while since we’ve last heard about Lords of the Fallen II, and that was the delay of the game until 2027. Now, CI Games has released new gameplay footage for Lords of the Fallen II, giving us our most detailed look yet at the upcoming Soulslike’s overhauled combat system. The reveal comes from episode 11 of the developer’s Lifting the Veil series, titled “Steel & Sorcery,” which highlights several improvements being made to the sequel ahead of its 2027 release.

Take a look at this new video for yourself.

So, what’s changed? Well, for starters, one of the biggest changes is the expanded weapon system, which now features nearly 30 distinct weapon movesets, compared to 15 in Lords of the Fallen (2023). Players can also switch between two melee weapon loadouts in the middle of a combo without interrupting their attacks. On that point, it seems CI Games has been watching a few games, most recently Phantom Blade Zero. Where switching weapons in mid-combat isn’t just cool, it’s a requirement.

In addition, there are new counterstrikes, unique boss weapon abilities, and the Quickfire system will also allow players to mix melee attacks with magic and ranged abilities without constantly switching stances.

Magic and ranged combat are also receiving some much-needed attention. Players will have access to seven schools of magic, with the ability to equip up to eight spells across two catalysts. Ranged weapons will now have unlimited basic ammunition, making dedicated ranged builds more practical, while the Sanguinarix can replenish mana without requiring consumables.

And after looking at this new gameplay video, the combat does appear to be faster than the last game, while the locations are more varied, and it does get me hyped to finally play it. I know there’s a shadow that lingers over the game, but I tend to judge the games based on what they offer. And I’m liking what I’m seeing. I was looking forward to this Soulslike in 2026, but now that it’s in 2027, I can continue to watch it develop and hopefully not have the jank that the prior game had.

The new gameplay reveal comes just days after CI Games secured approximately $32 million in additional financing on October 30, 2026. The funding will help the developer complete production, market, and self-publish Lords of the Fallen II, while also refinancing existing company debt. With that financing secured, CI Games can focus on completing the game ahead of its planned launch.

Lords of the Fallen II is currently scheduled for release in Q1 2027 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
