Kakao Games and Chrono Studio have released an uncut boss fight from Chrono Odyssey, the open-world action massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set to launch on PC and consoles in the second quarter of 2027.

According to a release, the gameplay video is a single, unedited solo attempt against Miragin, a Chrono Gate boss that had not been shown before. The footage comes from the game's current development build. No highlight reel; one player, one boss, start to finish. It is the first new look at the game in months, and the studio says more is coming.

Paladin class and time-bending skills

The video also marks the first reveal of the Paladin, a class that fights with a long spear and a shield. In the footage, the Paladin chains spear attacks together, calls down a huge spear to hit the boss and raises its shield to soak up incoming damage.

Two Chronotector abilities get screen time as well. Replicate lets players briefly copy the combat skills of bosses they have already beaten (and turn them on enemies), while Isolation freezes a target in time for a limited period. The release says the pair can be used to pin down enemies and open gaps for attacks. The Chronotector is the device behind the game's time-manipulation system.

“We didn't want to come back with just another trailer. We wanted to come back with the game,” said Kwon, Executive Producer at Chrono Studio. “Chrono Gates are where Chrono Odyssey asks the most of you, so it felt right to let one fight speak for where we are.” Kwon added that there is ‘a lot more to show’ in the months ahead.

Chrono Studio notes that the footage was captured from an in-development build, so content may change before release. Players can wishlist Chrono Odyssey on Steam or follow updates on the game's official site.

Chrono Odyssey is set in Setera, a world fractured by time. It is developed by Chrono Studio, led by CEO Bong-Gun Bae, in Unreal Engine 5. Publisher Kakao Games, listed on KOSDAQ since September 2020, has launched titles such as Odin: Valhalla Rising, Uma Musume Pretty Derby and PUBG: Battlegrounds.
